Hoover, Alabama, is a city in Jefferson County, Alabama. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 84,848, up from 69,047 at the 2000 census. It is one of two principal cities in the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Area.
The Hoover Metropolitan Stadium was built in 1978 and holds 32,800 people. The stadium hosted the NCAA Division I Southeastern Conference football competition in 1979 and was home to the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions in 1985. The course of the 1989 Tour de Trump cycling event finished in its parking lot.
